Obituary of Marylou Grove

MaryLou Grove, age 82, a resident of Agoura Hills, California for over 40 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 15th, 2023 in Moorpark, CA.

Funeral services will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on June 30th, 2023 at 11am.  Burial will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley, California. The burial service will honor both MaryLou and James Grove. James passed away January 14, 2022.

MaryLou was born in Santa Monica, California to Donald and Gloria Keegan on September 7, 1941. She graduated from Reseda High School, and attended Pierce College for Business Administration.  She met and married Rocky Lundy in 1962, and they had two children. She worked at Crocker Bank for 10 years after college.  She was sadly widowed in 1969. Later she was introduced to Beverly Hills Firefighter James Grove, and they were married in 1971. James (Jim) also had two children.

They moved to Agoura Hills in 1973 and lived there until shortly before their passing. Before retirement, MaryLou worked for Pepperdine University in the administration office. MaryLou and Jim started traveling frequently to Europe.  After Jim retired in 1992 from the fire department, they continued to travel extensively on cruises all over the world for the next 20 years. They very much enjoyed going to their grandsons’ many sports games, and granddaughter’s band concerts. They also traveled to see their grandchildren back east. MaryLou was an avid reader and crossstitcher, while Jim loved to golf.

In retirement MaryLou devoted over 20 years of service as a volunteer at Los Robles Hospital. She worked in the nursery taking care of newborns. She prepared thousands of newborn baby kits, and loved being able to care for the babies while mothers were getting much needed care or rest. MaryLou & Jim were also longtime parishioners of St. Judes Catholic Church for over 40 years. MaryLou loved Mexican food and margaritas, and they dined so frequently at Latigo in Agoura Hills that the staff there became family.

MaryLou is survived by her children Cynthia (Rock) Ake, Rocky (Michelle) Lundy, stepchildren Karla Grove, Paul (Michelle) Grove, granddaughter Brittany (Joshua) Rothdeutsch, and grandsons Ryan (Lauren) Ake, Kyle & Blake Lundy, Daniel, Riley, Michael, and Cooper Grove, great-grandsons Jonathan & Robert, Brayden, and great-granddaughter Raegan.  She was preceded in death by Rocky Lundy Sr., James Grove, and parents Donald and Gloria Keegan.
