My beautiful mom.. a light has gone out in my world.
My love for her transcends time & place & I hope she still feels it.
She loved animals so very much & contributed to many animal charities. Nothing made her happiest than her dogs.
she was strong and stubborn & a fighter in everything in her life..right up to the end.
She taught me all of that including the trait of great organization & planning.. The best parts of me came from her.
Words cannot express the void & sadness I feel.
We are connected mom.. always.
Love Stacy

Thank you to everyone who is writing their beautiful thoughts and memories of my amazing mother here…
This is Stacy…
She was truly a one-of-a-kind mother..
Just a few days before she went to the ER…
I had had a final long conversation with her in which I asked her many things about her life and One of the things she said was.. “it was fun.”
I told her that she made it fun…
That because of her -my sister and I had amazing childhoods and she was such a great mother and I told her how thankful I was and how much I loved her…
This would be the last conversation I had with her where she could respond back.
I cherish that conversation and will miss my mother so very much…
There is a huge void in that part of my heart and it will forever be there.
She was a huge part of me
She was a strong, stubborn, spunky, beautiful woman with a generous loving soul and I hope to make her proud for the rest of my life to emulate the strength and love that she instilled in me.
Thank you mom… I love you
Stacy

I was so sorry to read of Sandy’s passing. What a truly amazing woman. She was responsible for getting me a job at Bernardo Yorba, a gift I’ll never forget. Because of Sandy, I had a wonderful teaching career in PLUSD for almost thirty years. Plus, every time I came into the office at Bernado and Esperanza, she always had a cheerful smile and words of encouragement. I’m quite sure I have never met a more positive person with such a wonderful outlook on life. I’m glad retirement was good to her…she deserved every blessing that came her way.

To the Bell family and friends: Please accept my condolences on the loss of your loved one. Sandy was such a warm and special lady. She made my years as a Language Arts teacher at Esperanza HS so much brighter because of her smile, her assistance, and her calm demeanor. Her memory holds a very special place in my heart because of the way she helped me when I was in the throes of an autoimmune condition onset nearly 20 years ago. I had a constant low grade fever that sapped my energy and was causing rapid weight loss. One afternoon in late September that year I called Sandy after the students left for the day and poured out my worries to her. She was so compassionate and explained that she could help arrange assistance for me with picking up my mail, making photocopies, getting to meetings, and the like. I’ll never forget her words as I was saying goodbye and thanking her profusely: “You’ve taken care of others all these years, Virginia. Let us take care of you now.” I hung up my classroom phone and sobbed in relief. And help me she did. I’m certain that many of my former EHS colleagues have memories like this which speak to Sandy’s concern for others, her many talents, and her sunny disposition. Rest In Peace, beloved friend.

There have been so many replies from her co-workers at Esperanza High School, I'm posting them here:
So sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. She was a gem. The saying goes..."If you are a teacher, the two most important people on campus that you need to know well are the principal's secretary and the head custodian". She was kind to everyone and a happy person despite having a tough job. She will be missed.

Such sad news. Sandy always made a brighter day as she sat at her desk busy at work. I'll remember her fondly.

I know EHS ran more smoothly because of Sandy’s efficiency. Always a smile and willing to help no matter how busy she was. I remember how proud she was of her daughters in their adult lives. Retirement to her meant trying new adventures like acting. Sandy, a sweet soul, will be missed. Thanks for letting us know, Sue and Elisa.

Sandy really seemed like the heart of the school. If you needed anything she knew where to find it and how to make it work. I am sure that she will be missed greatly, but I am also sure that she will be remembered fondly with a smile and lots of good stories for a long long while!

May Sandy’s family and friends be comforted by happy memories. Sandy and I worked together many, many years at Esperanza. I told Sandy we did not need computers as we had file cabinets. Sandy insisted she could look up student information on the computer faster than I could in the paper files. We would race — and Sandy usually won! Then we laugh!! She was so helpful to me and the entire staff. Sandy was a joy to be with. At the Christmas parties, Sandy could frequently be seen singing away at the player piano!

May the family of Sandy find solace in knowing the many hundreds of people she touched. Although I was at Esperanza for only a short period, I found her to be kind, patient and helpful. She will be a welcomed angel in Heaven as she organizes and files stats on the other angels in Heaven.

Although your email leaves me with a heavy heart, I so appreciate your efforts to inform us. Like you, I met Sandy when Elisa was a student of mine. She was a tireless volunteer and I’m sorry to hear she passed.

Thank you so much for letting us know of Sandy’s passing. Her bubbly personality and beautiful smile will be missed. I can hear her now telling me she had to get home to lunch with her dogs. I especially recall the day she was giving one of them a birthday party. I never knew anyone like Sandy Bell.

I had the good fortune to visit her at her Westlake home. She enjoyed her retirement and being a grandma. I know that she is enjoying her heavenly time now. Sympathy and prayers to the whole family.
Sue Shore
Thank you for this information Sue. Not only did I work alongside Sandy, she was my neighbor until she moved to Westlake Village. She will be missed. Hope all is well with you.

Very sad news - Sandy was definitely one of the “ good ones”

It was because of Sandy that I got the job at Esperanza back in 1984. When the other theatre teacher left Sandy called me and told to get myself down to Esperanza and get that job. I was very excited and put my application in for the job. Well Al Hawkins, the Principal at the time, was being driven insane by this kooky lady who was President of the PTA, who kept nudging him about Bernardo Yorba's drama teacher and this wacky lady kept telling Al: " you better hire her." Well, my wonderful, gracious wacka doodle friend got me the job. I know she drove him bonkers because he never stopped reminding me about how "you have friends in high places." And I know I did. After my first 2 years at Esperanza he finally admitted, that Sandy Bell was right. I spent 24 wonderful years at Esperanza because my dear, sweet friend made sure I got that job.
I also remember one Christmas, when Elisa made a special announcement about a new person who would be arriving in June and lo and behold, Weston was brought into the fold.
I have so many wonderful memories of Sandy Bell, that will stay with me forever. God Bless you Sandy. The Angels now have another voice to join their choir.
