Obituary of Michael Francis Furney

Michael Francis Furney was born in Charleston, South Carolina on February 10, 1944.  HIs parents were Leory Francis Furney and Della Jane Kisthard Furney.

The family returned to their hometown in Pueblo, Colorado after serving in the military.  Michael was the oldest of five children.  He is survived by Tim, Jon, Bill, and Mary.  He was raised in Pueblo, Colorado through his senior year.  He attended and graduated from the University of New Mexico with an MS degree and from the University of Southern California with an MS degree in aerospace management.

He spent his entire professional life as a research scientist and manager in the Aerospace industry.

Michael made friendships every place he worked and he kept in contact with up until the day he died on December 21, 2022.  He never let an occasion slip by without communicating his best wishes.

He had a very sharp mind and his recall of trivia was unmatched.

You never saw Michael without a book or a crossword puzzle in his hand.  He loved any kind of sport, car racing, football, and baseball.

Mike become a Volunteer in Policing after his retirement.

Michael and his wife Marie (Bosco) Furney were married in 1964.  They had three children; Michele Rene, Marlo Christine, and Michael Jay, his grandchildren Corwin, Hayden, Eli, Sophia, and his great grandson Atticus.

Michael was a loving husband to Marie for 58 years.  His children and siblings knew that if there was a need he would move mountains to make it happen for them.  His friends knew him as a great man whose family meant the world to him.

In death, he made the ultimate gift by donating his organs to One Legacy so that someone might benefit from his life.

At his request there will be no viewing or service.  Cremation has taken place at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley, CA.  In lieu of flowers, those who choose can make a memorial donation in his name to the American Heart Association.
