Obituary of Tyler Ritch

Tyler Ritch passed away on February 13, 2023.  In his 87 years, he lived a long, full life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Romo Ritch and is survived by his wife, Connie Cole-Ritch.  He leaves behind Theresa Hofstatter (Eric), Michelle Marnoch (Eric), Dodie Cole Winstead (Scott), Debbie Lahren Shell, and Riley Cole. His is also survived by his grandchildren Rory Hofstatter (Brooke), Kyle Hofstatter (Molly), Joshua Hofstatter, Alec Marnoch, Gillian Marnoch, Joseph Lahren (Annie), Sarah Winstead, and Riley Winstead and great-grandchildren Charlie, Brody, Emma and Tommy.

Tyler grew up in Georgia and later joined the Army where he started his career. He worked with NASA and the government on missiles, rockets, and all the early Apollo missions. He was a Chartered Member of Knights of Columbus Councils 9410 and 5803 and a Past Grand Knight of Council 9410. Upon his retirement, he was a docent at the LA Zoo, and volunteer at the Simi Police Department. Throughout his life, he earned numerous awards such as the prestigious Silver Snoopy and the 2005 Police Volunteer of the Year.  He had many passions but he was best known for his love of cooking for his family and community. 

Tyler had a positive impact on us all by not only feeding our bodies, but our souls. By having him in our lives, he has made us all better.

Viewing will be held on March 1, 2023 at Rose Family Funeral Home located at 4444 Cochran Street , Simi Valley from 5:00 to 9:00 pm with a Rosary starting at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be March 2, 2023 10:00 am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church located at 2380 Stow Street Simi Valley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Los Angeles Zoo.
