Obituary of Frances A. Root

Frances Root (née Sklenar) passed away on April 25, 2023, at the age of 87, in Thousand Oaks, California. She was born on August 2, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. 

Lovingly known as "Nana," Frances was a strong, intelligent, loving, and resilient woman, who enjoyed cheering on the Dodgers and playing bingo in her free time. Prior to her retirement, Frances was a respected and devoted nurse throughout her 40 plus-year career. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her children Gayle Wingate, Calvin Bursley, Pat Bursley, Timothy Root, Colette Ranallo, and Patricia Root Bursley. Frances is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Anna Sklenar; her brother, Charles Sklenar; her husband, Timothy Root; her son, Dennis Bursley; and former spouse Richard Bursley.

A funeral service will be held at Saint Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park, California, on June 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Frances will be remembered for her selflessness and unwavering dedication to her family.
