Obituary of Lothar Apel

Long time Simi Valley resident Lothar Apel died peacefully in his home on May 18.

Born June 1935 in Kassel, Germany, Lothar traveled the world as a merchant marine and settled in Hollywood where he met his beloved wife, Rose. Married in May 1965, they moved to Simi Valley in 1970.

Keeping in touch with his German roots, he was an active member of the LA Bavarian club and German soccer club. He loved to travel, go to the beach and attend local festivals. In his later years, he enjoyed staying home and relaxing on his patio.

Lothar is survived by his brothers Wolfgang, Manfred and Peter, his daughters Patti, Heidi and Nicole and his three grandchildren Ariel,  Shane and Meghan.

He will be laid to rest at Assumption Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, July 13 at 11 am. All are welcome to attend.
