Obituary of Peter Robert Bruno

Peter Robert Bruno passed away on September 19, 2023, at Vista Assisted Living in Simi Valley at the age of 87 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Peter was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 7, 1935, to Peter and Lena Bruno.  He graduated from New Uterecth High School in Brooklyn in 1953 and joined the United States Army where he served from 1954 - 1956.  Peter met Rose Zofrea when they worked together at a bank in Brooklyn.  They married in 1959, and moved to Los Angeles, California, where he joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1960.  When Peter retired in 1988, he went on to work security. He met Terrie Stone and they married in 2001. 

Peter is survived by his daughter Jeanine Holt, son Peter Bruno, son-in-law Lane Holt, daughter-in-law Robin Mizuno, grandson Steven Deese and his wife Tatiana Meuser, granddaughter Meghan Holt, grandson Calder DuPont, and great granddaughters Sofia and Camila Deese.  Peter was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Lena Bruno, sister Grace Curatolo, brother Ross Bruno, daughter Kelly Ann Bruno, first wife Rose Bruno, and second wife Terrie Stone Bruno.

Peter had a wonderful sense of humor and was always the life of the party with an innumerable amount of great stories to share and jokes to tell.  He enjoyed good food, going to the movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.  Peter was quite the wordsmith and also enjoyed readand writing. 

Peter moved to Vista Assisted Living in Simi Valley in January 2023 where he was loved by the staff and residents alike. He developed a wonderful support group and circle of friends and was very happy the last few months of his life. 

Peter’s love and humor will live on in our hearts and memories, and he will be dearly missed.  His family is comforted knowing he’s with his Lord and Savior in the Kingdom of Heaven. 

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will occur at a later date at Hillside Memorial Park and Morturary in Los Angeles.
