In loving memory of Vanessa C. Martinez , who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vanessa lived a life filled with warmth and compassion. Always offering a helping hand or a comforting word to those in need. She brought joy to many people in her life.
Vanessa cherished moments spent with family and friends. She found peace in outdoor activities and playing her favorite video game “Call Of Duty”.
She faced cancer with incredible bravery, never losing spirit or her love for life. All who witnessed it can tell.
Vanessa leaves this world but left behind a legacy of love and kindness. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May we find comfort in the memories we shared of her and knowing that she now rests peacefully, free from pain. Though gone from our sight, her spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Her "let's do this" attitude was Vanessa. Never stopped fighting and it was inspiring to me and others. We just knew she was going to beat this. You earned your Angel wings much too soon, but Baby girl you wear them well.
I will forever miss the "I love you Tia" at the end of our Friday evening calls.

I have been lucky to have this beautiful lady in my life for 28 years. We were in the second grade when we first became friends in elementary school. Running from boys with cooties till I changed schools. But it wasn’t long after we reconnected in middle school once again but this time we played basketball with boys mostly because I had a crush on a boy Nessa played with. She taught me how to play the game and always picked me to be on her team even if it meant I didn’t play well. Later we got into some stupid fights over some boys but that only lasted maybe a week because we weren’t going to let some dumb boys come between us. In high school we added more and more friends to our growing group. When we graduated from high school I got a little lost and disconnected with my friends Nessa was one of the only friend who kept in touch with me when I lost my self in drugs and partying. She has always been a good friend to me even when I felt like I was not a good friend to her. She was always loving and caring supported me as I walked through my first marriage. Supporting me as I had my son even though she wasn’t able to have her own kids she always was happy for me. We talked a lot towards the end of her life and for that I am truly blessed. I am blessed to have every memory and moment with this amazing person. Vanessa I miss you more then you will ever know. I love you so much and I am so glad you will always have a place in my heart. ❤️

My first time meeting Vanessa was at Six Flag with our friends Fi & Makara. That friendship grew over time more and more. We became close friends hanging out all the time and playing video games. Especially shooting games we would destroy anyone in Call of duty. Vanessa helped me grow as a person over the years of our friendship.
I remember all our adventures, from going to Las Vegas to hiking and just the hangouts talking about stuff. My favorite memory I’m sure she would agree on this was the time we went hiking and we would always do the hard trails. We got to the top of course I was out of breath she was just like smiling and she got to the top with no problem.
On our way down she said “Chris I think I saw a snake” Well… I ran so fast all I hear is “SOME FRIEND!” as she was laughing because I was running down the hill. I hate snakes to this day, but we laughed so much about it when we got back down the trail.
If it weren’t for Vanessa, I would never have discovered I love hiking. The thrill of it going up that hill I see why she loved it. We’ve been friends for so long she had an amazing personality she loved her family and friends. I’m going to miss her laugh and talks…. Our adventures.
Vanessa was not just a friend she was my sister when we needed each other we would always be there. When she needed to talk I would always accept the phone call no matter where I was. We both were there for each other no matter what issue it was. We knew we could count on each other for support.
I loved my sister so much. I will always miss her and no matter what my memory of her will never fade. She will always be in my heart the strength she gave to me will always be there she was the strongest person I knew. I will always remember her as that sister who loved the adventure and hanging with her loved ones.
I miss you so much.

I have so many wonderful memories of our sweet Nessa that I can never forget. From hanging out in school, to our beach trips, hikes, amusement park visits, to hanging out at the studio apartment.
I remember so many late nights hanging in that apartment playing Guitar Hero, watching anime and movies, and eating all the snacks.
I remember walking the Vegas strip together drinking margaritas and living it up. I remember being able to talk anytime I needed a friend to listen. I remember fighting the waves while she stood strong like Goku from DBZ. I remember her cheering me on whenever I struggled to complete hiking up a mountain, and standing together to enjoy the view.
Most of all, I remember her beautiful smile, her joyous laugh, her warm hugs. You showed me the meaning of grace and forgiveness, and always looking on the bright side of things.
You are my sister from another mister. You loved everyone and loved life, and you made everyone’s lives better for knowing you. I will always miss you, and always love you.

I have had the amazing privilege of meeting Vanessa 17 years ago with an amazing friend group who has given me the opportunity to know what friendship really means.
From our back in the day weekly friend hang outs to our one on one hiking/walks/and exploring our backyard of Los Angeles, Vanessa and I would bond over our dedication and love for our family. And our support for each other doing our best in school to continue to evolve each and everyday.
Vanessa’s love for everyone was above and beyond as she continued to fight and succeed whatever she put her mind to do! In my lifetime, I have never met anyone so strong, so loving, and amazing to all that had the opportunity to know her.
I will forever love you as not just my close friend, but a sister.
Love you, sky and back around the world
